Clarecastle Tidy Towns in association with Clarecastle Community Development CLG has secured further funding of €100,000 under the National Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2017 to progress the “Clarecastle Street Rejuvenation” programme that started at the beginning of the year. Under the 2016 Scheme, Clarecastle was awarded 90,000 euros which has been used for a range of work including the removal of overhead wires and the installation of attractive new street lamps in the Main Street. This year’s additional funding will go towards further rejuvenation of the village. Representatives will shortly meet Clare County Council to clarify the specific works to be undertaken and the timeline for completion. Clarecastle Community Development as a whole is very grateful to Clare County Council, its management team and staff for their valued assistance in preparing the application. The Company also appreciates the great support it has received from local elected representatives for the Clarecastle Streetscape Rejuvenation project and their help in this very successful application for much needed funding. It will make a huge difference to the main thoroughfare of Clarecastle.
In Clarecastle, the funding will be used to put electric and phone cables underground, replace lighting columns, provide lighting for public spaces, redesign traffic dominated spaces, upgrade footpaths and crossings, as well as planting and painting throughout the village.
