April is the National Spring Clean month and events are being organised throughout the country to clean up Ireland. Supported by An Taisce and the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, it is Ireland’s biggest anti-litter campaign which encourages people of all walks in life to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter.
Clarecastle Tidy Towns committee is co-ordinating the clean-up campaign in our area and has registered with An Taisce. In return, they receive clean up kits with bags, gloves etc and arrange with Clare County Council to collect and dispose of the bags of rubbish. Clarecastle Tidy Towns is appealing to as many volunteers from different areas of Clarecastle to organise litter collections and to liaise with the Tidy Towns Committee so that the litter can be removed properly and safely! This is such an important task and we would encourage as many that can help out to do so.
If anyone is interested in initiating a litter collection in a particular area or helping out in any way, please contact Gerry on 087 2022778 or email email@example.com.
